Continuing an unbroken record of attendance at every Beef, Galloway Cattle Co had a display stand and a show team of Brangus and Herefords in 2015. Situated 'over the road' in cattle Cattle Alley. There we caught up with many clients, friends and family, and met many new people as well.
Tuesday was Hereford Judging day and under the watchful eye of Reade Radel, Cootharaba did well. Our young bull Cootharaba Underwood, weighing 848kgs, EMA 111 and fat coverage of 10/7, won the 15-17 month Class.
Underwood is out of Beef 06 Champion Hereford Cow Pauline B144 and sired by Glendan Park Empire. Empires father is the notable Cootharaba Magnum, a bull who has done a lot for the Hereford breed.
In the 28-30 month class, Underwood's full brother, Cootharaba Uluru came first with Cootharaba Usher second to him.
Uluru weighed 1138 kgs, EMA 130 and fat of 20/12. Usher is also sired by Glendan Park Empire, weighed 1054kgs, EMA 128 and fat cover 11/8.
Wednesday was Brangus judging, where Renee Rutherford had the job of sorting out nearly 200 head.
Duarran Kapaldo and Kalumbaru came 2nd & 3rd in their classes, then Duarran Xmas and Fancy came 1st and 2nd in the 17-19 female Class.
Duarran Jamberoo won the 21-24 Class, then along came HAVELOCK. He won his class - 24 and under 30months, the Senior Champion and GRAND CHAMPION.
Havelock weighed 1214 kgs, an EMA of 140 with fat cover of 19/10.. He looked so athletic and healthy, and went on to be 3rd in the INTERBREED on Thursday.
