Red and Black Brangus were first registered in 1989 when their Brahman breeders had Angus bulls introduced.
Other breeds were trialed, but with the scaling down of the herd these have been dispersed.
A cow herd of 200 Red Brangus and 80 black Brangus breeders run on “The Bell”, a property at Toogoolawah, which was purchased in December 2018, a month before the home property Duarran was sold.
With 5000 acres still at Roma, the Hereford breeders run here, and the Brangus bull weaners are returned from Toogoolawah and marketed from Roma.
We now market privately around 80 bulls annually and females are also sold privately.
Our steers are our joy and being E.U accredited come back at good money.
We are always trialing the performance of our steers and have been very successful in Feedback trials (1st and 2nd placings in the weight gain all breeds, up to well over 3 kg/day over 100 days) and taste tests (1st prize Brisbane Royal Show 2005).
Our results have been very competitive in the years since then also, with placings in the weight gain and taste tests.
